Te Amo

I had a session yesterday with a friend's mom and dad. The occassion is his mom and dad's 50th wedding anniversary. Now, 50 years is a dang, long time and worthy of a celebration...and pictures! The plan was to take pictures of mom and dad, and then mom and dad with each of their children's families and then with all of the grandchildren. We started the session with just mom and dad. Some people find it difficult to be in front of the camera...maybe they are apprehensive, nervous, or just think it's a pain in the butt. I could tell that this mom and dad were dutifully doing what their children had asked of them, maybe they were a little apprehensive, maybe a little nervous, maybe thinking this was a bit of a pain in the butt, and it was hot, but they were there to get the job done. Cameron was there to help with posing so we got them all set up just right and started snapping away. I could still see their uneasiness, but kept snapping as mom and dad glanced around the room at the papparazzi that stood behind me, yelling, "say, queso!", etc. So, I had an idea. I moved mom over to the side of dad, snapped a few more pictures and then told them, "now, I want you to look into one another's eyes and say I love you." Well, dad looked up at mom and started to say it but then mom got the giggles. I'm not sure if mom was embarrassed about this public display of affection or what, but then the whole room got the giggles. Needless to say, I think these are the best pictures from the whole session and certainly left me with a warm, fuzzy feeling! (Click the photo for a better look!)
